Comp4drones
Framework of key enabling technologies for safe and autonomous drone applications
Drones can perform aerial operations to combat aircraft and their use brings significant economic savings and environmental benefits, while reducing the risk to human life. Drone-based service and product innovation, driven by higher levels of connectivity and automation, are constrained by increasing dependence on poorly interoperable proprietary technologies and risks to people, other vehicles and property. SESAR JU has identified that this issue has a strong impact on European innovation, which requires R&D investment and incentives for the convergence of shared technologies and markets as remedies. Actions that create globally harmonised, commercially exploitable but widely accessible R&D ecosystems should be implemented publicly.
COMP4DRONES is an ECSEL JU project coordinated by INDRA SISTEMAS that brings together a consortium of 48 partners. It supports a holistically designed ecosystem ranging from application to electronic components, implemented as a tightly integrated multi-vendor and compositional drone architecture solution and a chain of tools integrating compositional architecture principles. The ecosystem aims to sustain:
- Efficient customization and incremental assurance of embedded drone platforms;
- Secure autonomous decisions regarding individual or cooperative missions;
- Reliable drone to drone and ground-based drone communications even in the presence of malicious attackers and under the inherent constraints of the platform;
- Agile and cost-effective compositional design and assurance of drone modules and systems.
In COMP4DRONES Abinsula actively participates in the Italian Use Case, in particular bringing its knowledge to the work package on trusted communication aspects. In this work package Abinsula extends Ability (Abinsula Linux for Ubiquity) with new features for precise agriculture.
